About the 2005-06 Gallery Program
We are very excited about the Gallery Program this year at Olds. With
this year's theme, Gifts from Ancient Cultures -- Western
Hemisphere, our children will learn about the contributions
of several different ancient cultures of the western hemisphere. This
novel program will highlight the scientific, social and cultural contributions
of these cultures and connect them to our current way of life.
Gifts from Ancient Cultures -- Western Hemisphere will challenge our
students to learn about citizens and communities of the past and to understand
the way that cultures imbue their advancements into the cultures that
follow them in time. We will gain an new interpretation of human cultural
evolution and see how advancements in science and culture can be explored
through the creative arts.
This year's program will take us to:
- Northern North America
and the ancient culture of the Inuit
- Central America and the Olmec, Mayan, and Incan cultures
- Home to North Carolina and the culture of the Haliwa-Saponi
and other NC tribes
