There are many committees to get involved with. Check out the Events, Programs and Fundraising sections for details. Additionally, there are many other opportunities that don't involve committees...just you and whatever time you can give.
Here are some simple ways to become part of the Olds Community:
- T-shirts and Tote bags: Work an event and/or create flyers promoting these items and school spirit
- Cafeteria Monitor: Any 30-minute period between 11:30-1pm. Walk around talking to students, making sure they clean up after themselves, keep excess noise down, stay in seats, and general manners and good behavior
- Computer Lab K-1: Assist in lab with our youngest users helping w/keyboarding, logging in , activities etc. See your teacher for times.
- Writing Helper: for grades 2nd-5th, any morning, 1:1 editing for grammer, word choice, forcus, etc. Ask your teacher about time.
- Math Helper: any morning, assist 1:1 or small groups. See your teacher.
- Homework Helper: Mostly afterschool from 3-6pm, 30 min. minimum.
- Testing Proctors: Mainly for EOG's in May. 4 hours on 1-3 mornings depending on your availability. 20 min. training session required.
- Transportation: So everyone in our Olds community is able to participate, parent volunteers provide rides to students and/or their families to school events.
- Dads Group: Self directed group of dads, uncles, grandfathers, older brothers who decide how they want to participate, as a group. They may take on security at an event, they may organize themselves as classroom readers for NC Book Awards, they may all work at field day, they find other creative ways to become involved.
ALL volunteers MUST register with WCPSS on the computer in the media center. You'll need your driver's license and 10 years of addresses. This process takes 10-15 minutes. Please contact Leanne Stradling at 834-7806 if you have questions or comments.
